The Coventry UFO Incident – December 1970
On a chilly December morning in 1970, the skies above Coventry and Ryton-on-Dunsmore became the setting for a strange and unexplained event. As dawn broke on December 8th, three men reported witnessing something that would stay with them for the rest of their lives—a "whitish, glowing round light" hovering silently in the air. The sightings occurred at precisely the same time, 6:15 AM, over the weekend, adding to the eerie sense of synchronicity.
Eric Harrison, one of the witnesses, recounted his experience with a sense of awe and fear. He had been driving along the A45 with a friend when the mysterious light appeared. "We saw this light in the sky when we were driving," he said. "It stayed in the same position and then went down towards the earth very fast...Then it shot up again and disappeared from view. Suddenly it came back and did the same thing again, this time shooting off very fast and vanishing."

Frank Newbold, another witness, saw the light as well, describing it as bright and glowing. His experience matched that of Harrison's in a remarkable way, adding credibility to their claims. Officials were baffled by the incident, unable to offer any explanation. Neither Coventry Civic Airport nor Emsdon Airport reported any aircraft activity that could account for the sighting, leaving the mystery unresolved and adding to the growing legend of UFO encounters in the area.
